Recipes - using Pilsen Malt
You're not going to find a lighter base malt on the market. A great choice for any beer you brew, our Pilsen Malt is THE malt to use when brewing crisp, clean lagers.
American Dark Wheat—(5bbl)
The exceptionally smooth, subtle caramel notes of Caracrystal® Wheat malt really shine through in this lightly hopped American style wheat beer. Recipe developed by Kevin Eichelberger, Red Eye Brewing Co., Wausau, Wis.
Amaz(ake) me Japanese Pilsner—(5 U.S. Gallons) (All Grain)
Special mashing and wort collection procedures produce this exceptionally light colored, clean flavored and super dry lager.
Black Lager (Schwarbier)—(5 U.S. Gallons)(Grain)
Clear lager yeast character and subtle coffee flavor are the distinguishing characteristics of this dark, yet surprisingly light flavored beer. A refreshing alternative to stouts and porters on a blustery winter's day.
Bock Beer—(This will yield a 5bbl batch on a 7bbl system due to mash tun size restraint.)
Deep amber colored, rich and malty strong lager.
Dusseldorf Alt—(5 U.S. Gallons) Grain)
Fermenting at cool ale temperatures develops the clean and smooth, yet rich malty character of this German-style beer.
German Style Pilsner—(7bbl)
Deep amber colored, rich and malty strong lager.
Sunnydale Pale Ale—(5bbl)
Caracrystal® Wheat Malt adds a nice "softness" to the finish in this full flavored pale ale. Recipe developed by Doug Hindman, Elliott Bay Brewing Co., Burien, Wash., 2009.
Two Belgians (Belgian Dubbel)—(5 U.S. Gallons) (All Grain)
Full-bodied complex, satisfying Trappist-style ale. Displays a wide range of malt flavors alongside wonderful ester and phenol flavors produced by a Belgian-style yeast blend.
Wit or Witout—(5 U.S. Gallons) (All Grain)
