Ingredients

8.5 lbs Briess Pilsen Malt Mash Grain
4 oz Briess Caramel Malt 20L Mash Grain
4 oz Briess Blackprinz® Malt Mash Grain
1 oz Hallertau Tradition hops (6.0% AAU) 60 min boil
0.5 oz Hallertau Tradition hops (6.0% AAU) 10 min boil
2 packs WLP830 German Lager Yeast Fermenter

Procedures

  1. Mash grains in 3.5 gallons of water at 150-152°F for 60 minutes
  2. Sparge grain with 170°F water to obtain desired pre-boil kettle volume
  3. Bring to boil
  4. Add 1 oz Hallertau Tradition hops
  5. Boil for 50 minutes
  6. Add 0.5 oz Hallertau Tradition hops
  7. Boil for 10 minutes
  8. Turn off heat and cool wort to 55°F
  9. Transfer to fermenter
  10. Pitch two packs of WLP830 German Lager Yeast

Primary Fermentation: 3 weeks at 52-55°F

Secondary Fermentation: 4 weeks at 32-40°F

Fermentation Notes: Force carbonate, or bottle condition with dissolved priming sugar and 1/4 packet of WLP830 German Lager Yeast

Original Gravity: 1.048

Final Gravity: 1.013
