English-Style Brown Porter
Caramel sweetness with hints of chocolate and earthy English hops make this Brown Porter a beer to be savored.

Ingredients

8 lbs - Pale Ale Malt - Mash Grain
1.0 lb - Caramel Malt 40L - Mash Grain
0.3 lb - Chocolate Malt - Mash Grain
0.75 oz - East Kent Goldings Hops (5% AAU) - Boil 60 minutes
0.25 oz - East Kent Goldings Hops (5% AAU) - Boil 30 minutes
0.25 oz - Fuggles Hops (4% AAU) - Boil 30 minutes
0.25 oz - Fuggles Hops (4% AAU) - Boil 15 minutes
1 pack - WLP013 London Ale Yeast (plus 1/4 pack for bottle conditioning) - Fermenter

Directions

Mash crushed grains in 4 gallons of water at 155-157°F for 60 minutes
Sparge grain with 170°F water to obtain desired pre-boil kettle volume
Bring to boil
Add 0.75 oz East Kent Goldings hops, boil for 30 minutes
Add 0.25 oz East Kent Goldings and 0.25 oz Fuggles hops, boil for 15 minutes
Add 0.25 oz Fuggles hops, boil remaining 15 minutes
Turn off heat and cool wort to 68°F
Transfer to fermenter
Pitch one pack of WLP013 London Ale Yeast
