Formulated with Blackprinz® malt to give a deep brown color and roasty finish in this German-style lager.

Ingredients

8.5 lbs - Briess Pilsen Malt - Mash Grain
4 oz - Briess Caramel Malt 20L - Mash Grain
4 oz - Briess Blackprinz® Malt - Mash Grain
1 oz - Hallertau Tradition hops (6.0% AAU) - 60 min boil
0.5 oz - Hallertau Tradition hops (6.0% AAU) - 10 min boil
2 packs - WLP830 German Lager Yeast - Fermenter

Directions

Mash grains in 3.5 gallons of water at 150-152°F for 60 minutes
Sparge grain with 170°F water to obtain desired pre-boil kettle volume
Bring to boil
Add 1 oz Hallertau Tradition hops
Boil for 50 minutes
Add 0.5 oz Hallertau Tradition hops
Boil for 10 minutes
Turn off heat and cool wort to 55°F
Transfer to fermenter
Pitch two packs of WLP830 German Lager Yeast
