The Briess tradition of superior malting and brewing dates back 135 years to Moravia, Czechoslovakia. It was there that Ignatius Briess, a grain exchanger by trade, first began barley in the rich agricultural area of his homeland. Today the Briess family tradition continues in the U.S.A. as one of the most unique malting companies in the world.

Since relocating the business to the United States in the early 1900s, the Briess family has transformed the company from an export business into North America's leading manufacturer and supplier of specialty malts to the American craft brewing and homebrewing industries. Briess is also the only malting company dedicated to the production of specialty malts for the American Craft Brewing industry.

.Briess was the first malting company to support the efforts of the young American Craft Brewing Industry, introducing innovations like 50-pound packaging, a wide variety of specialty malts, pilot brewing services and technical support. We're also the only vertically integrated malting company in North America, which means we make our malt extracts from our own malts. And we make them in a state-of-the-art 500bbl brewhouse so they're true brewer's grade extracts. And they're super fresh.

When you brew with Briess you brew not only with quality ingredients, but with all the tradition, dedication and passion that we put into every batch we handcraft. Click on these links for more product information and ask your homebrew shop for them.
