Each lot of malt produced by Briess receives a unique six-digit lot code which represents the date of production. To determine the date, start from the left and read to the right of the code. The first two numbers correspond to the year that the product was manufactured. The second two numbers designate the month of production. And the last two numbers indicate the day of the month of production. Some lot codes may include a letter or additional numbers after the six-digit code. Ignore them as they are for internal use only. Here’s an example:

201117

20 = 2020    |    11 = November     |     17 = 17th day of the month
This product was produced on November 17, 2020.
