The intense cocoa, rich roasted coffee and roasted flavors that Dark Roasted Malts contribute are a necessity for brewing Porters and Stouts. Use in smaller quantities for a touch of flavor or color adjustment in all beer styles.


Or replace the debittered black malt you're currently using with Blackprinz® Malt or Midnight Wheat Malt. Since it's the husk that develops bitter notes during roasting, debittered black malts will contribute a certain amount of bitter, astringent or dry flavors or aftertaste to beer. Blackprinz® and Midnight Wheat Malts are made from grains with no husk so they contribute deep rich browns to black tones with subtle, smooth flavor and no bitterness or astringency.
