I know that this is a blog on a maltsters website but as I drive over to Yakima each year for the wonderful Hop & Brew School put on by Hop Union I thought I’d share this quick video of a dimple belt which separates the cones from the leaf and stem material.  As these belts are on a slant the cones roll while the other material does not.  Once the hop cones are relatively free of other material then it’s on to the kiln for drying; I think every brewer needs to visit Yakima for hop harvest at least once!
