I stopped in today to see what’s new with Westland Distilling here in Seattle as I had heard some time back that they had sold their original still on Probrewer.com and WOW have they ever been busy! Head distiller Matt was brewing on his new brewhouse at their new location and they have just gotten their giant Vendome copper still hooked up. Unlike a lot of distillers who open selling vodka Matt has decided to just fill barrels with his whiskey and release it for sale once it’s been properly aged. Their new location just south of Safeco Field (home to our ever-struggling Mariners) and downtown Seattle is huge and they certainly have plenty of space to grow and fill with barrels. I can’t wait to sample his product when it’s released in October 2013 as it has a healthy dose of Briess Extra Special Malt in it!
