Here’s Dave. He’s a GABF judge and professional brewer who covers states from the Pacific Northwest to California.

First, special thanks to the 500 conference attendees who got up early on day two of the National Homebrewers Conference to listen to Dave Richter’s presentation, “Kilned vs Roasted: Do you really know your specialty malt?”. We were thrilled to see so many of you at that time of the day, and especially happy that lots of questions were asked. Did you enjoy munching on the Briess kilned Aromatic 20º L and Briess roasted Caramel 20º L malts during the talk? Dave’s presentation about how two malts of the same color can taste so different was definitely educational and hopefully inspiring.

Second, if you turned off your alarm and missed the presentation (or weren’t able to attend the conference), you can now download it at this webpage. It’ll really hit home if you pick up some Briess Aromatic and Caramel 20L for tasting.

As always, hats off to the AHA and the San Diego area homebrewing community and craft breweries for organizing and supporting this event. It was exciting, informative and just plain fun! Here are a few pictures from the Briess booth. See you June 9-11, 2016, in Baltimore!

We usually had lines waiting to fill up their own bag with Briess malt. Last year attendees received Briess Dark Chocolate Malt. This year it was Briess Caramel Munich Malt 60L. What do you think it’ll be next year? That’s Bob Hansen, our Tech Services Manager, working the booth.
Ballast Point Brewmaster Colby Chandler stopped by for some of his beer. Colby brewed two beers for Briess — a 100% Briess Pale Ale all-grain beer and a 100% Briess CBW® Pale Ale extract beer. We served them side-by-side to illustrate that home brewers can achieve “great taste however you brew it”.
We went through almost 1,000 pounds of Briess Caramel Munich 60L – 8 ounces at a time. Can’t wait to repeat the giveaway with a different malt next year!
Look who else was at the Briess booth – John Palmer. He’s with Aaron Hyde (left) who is the Briess Home Brew Product Manager. John has released his own kit which is being sold online at betterbrewing.com.

Kiev Rattee of Brew Your Own magazine sampled beer at the Briess booth too. Thanks for stopping by, Kiev!
